The second single from Ieuan's upcoming record; Altar was originally teased to fans in September 2022, shortly after its composition. Written and produced by Ieuan in London, it deals with themes of a heedless ex-lover that you find yourself envisaging, despite their neglect and fecklessness.
"The piano in this track was sampled from a TikTok of someone like "if you're a producer, sample this piano", so I did. All the rest, I produced with stock Ableton plugins and some FX samples from Umru's Splice pack (shoutout). Lyrically, I wanted to sound defeated but righteous in coming around on this person I'm singing about. I also wanted to make hit, so Altar was born."
lyrics
(Intro)
(I think about it often)
(I think about it)
(Do you think about me?)
(Ieuan)
(Verse 1)
Guess I should move on
Easier said than done
I need a distraction
I need like ten shots
I'm gonna become everything you say I'm not
(Huh) Looks like you moved on
Does he know you wait by the phone?
To fuck a stranger
You met online
You say you won't, but you do it all the time
(Chorus)
I know I'm not the only one
Praying at your altar
I think about it often
Do you think about me?
Oh, look at what you've done
(What you've done)
I loved you like no other
(Like no other)
I think about it often
(I think about it)
Do you think about me?
(Verse 2)
Can you just fuck off?
Can't you see I'm drinking alone?
You're so pathetic
You're serpentine
I wanna become the villain in your storyline
And when he's moved on
The loneliness will get you first
No one to hurt
You'll go online
You'll think to yourself
(Chorus)
I know I'm not the only one
Praying at your altar
I think about it often
Do you think about me?
Oh, look at what you've done
(What you've done)
I loved you like no other
(Like no other)
I think about it often
(I think about it)
Do you think about me?
(Outro)
(I think about it often)
(I think about it)
(Do you think about me?)
(I think about it often)
(I think about it)
(Do you think about me?)
(I think about it)
(Instrumental)
